Frequently asked questions

For first-timers to Seattle, Downtown makes for an ideal base as it’s close to a wide variety of hotels, restaurants and attractions. It’s also easy to get around by foot (or bus, monorail or light rail).

You could see the bulk of Seattle’s main attractions in a day or two if you are really pressed for time, but what’s the hurry? To really experience this incredible cosmopolitan city beyond the Space Needle, allow three to four days.

Seattle is the kind of city you can wander around with your eyes closed (although we don’t recommend doing that) and find adventure. The Seattle Centre was the site of the 1962 World’s Fair and where you will find the Space Needle and Chihuly Garden and Glass, so make sure it’s at the top of your list of things to see. Pike Place Market is another must, and if you can swing it, take a day trip to Mt Rainier.

Be prepared for those sudden Seattle downpours with a quality rain jacket and boots. If you plan to get out and explore the great outdoors, pack your hiking gear but if you’re content skipping from museum to bar and kicking around Downtown, then layers, comfortable shoes and a sense of fun will be all you need.

The best time to visit Seattle is from June to late September/early October when the weather is warm and the chance of rain is low, but this also happens to be peak tourist season. If you’re keen to save a few dollars and don’t mind the odd rainshower, consider the shoulder months of April/May and October.

Seattle is known for having some of the best coffee in the world so coffee lovers can sip their way around the city, check out the Seattle Art Gallery, get a glimpse of the Space Needle, wander Chihuly Garden and Glass, explore Pike Place Market, ride the monorail, catch a band in Belltown, browse one of the oldest farmer’s markets in America, take a self-guided tour of food stalls, ogle retired aircraft at The Museum of Flight, catch a game at T-Mobile Park, the list is endless!
