For 12 adventure-filled days, experience Egypt and the Nile's most wondrous sites in style and luxury. Follow in the footsteps of renowned scholars and explorers as you venture forth into the Valley of the Kings, the ancient burial grounds of Egyptian royalty. This captivating itinerary begins and ends in Cairo, gateway to Giza, where you'll visit the mighty ancient pyramids, gaze upon the Great Sphinx, and explore the largest archaeological museum in the world — the Grand Egyptian Museum.
Arrive at Cairo International Airport and transfer to the Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at Nile Plaza or the Nile Ritz-Carlton. Settle in and prepare for an extraordinary journey through one of the world's most ancient civilisations.
Discover the ancient quarter of Cairo with a Local Expert. Visit the 12th-century Citadel of Salah al-Din, perched high above the city, and the magnificent Alabaster Mosque with its soaring twin minarets. End the day at the Grand Egyptian Museum — the largest archaeological museum in the world — home to millennia of Egyptian history and treasures.
Fly to Luxor and prepare to be amazed at the legendary Temple of Karnak — a vast complex of towering columns, sphinx-lined avenues, and halls of truly epic proportions. Board the S.S. Sphinx or River Tosca and set sail for Dendera. This evening, enjoy a Welcome Reception and Dinner onboard, preceded by a spectacular Whirling Dervish folkloric dance performance.
Visit the Temple of Hathor at Dendera, one of the best-preserved temples in Egypt, dedicated to the goddess of love and beauty and featuring a rare bas-relief of Cleopatra. Return to Luxor to explore the ancient Temple of Luxor, a breathtaking monument built over hundreds of years and most stunning at sunset when bathed in golden light.
A day of awe-inspiring discoveries on the west bank of the Nile. Come face-to-face with the gigantic Colossi of Memnon, visit the dramatic cliff-face Temple of Hatshepsut, and explore the Valley of the Kings — used as a royal burial ground for nearly 500 years and where the mummified remains of Tutankhamen are still on display. This evening, join a festive Galabeya Party onboard with traditional Egyptian music, dancing and singing.
Visit the unique Kom Ombo Temple, dedicated to both the crocodile god Sobek and the falcon god Horus, and view some of the 300 crocodile mummies discovered nearby. Sail serenely down the Nile in a traditional felucca sailboat, then enjoy afternoon tea at the historic Old Cataract Hotel Aswan — a colonial-era gem featured in Agatha Christie's Death on the Nile.
An epic day of wonders. Visit the remarkable Aswan High Dam and the Unfinished Obelisk — commissioned by Queen Hatshepsut but never completed. Explore the stunning Philae Temple complex, painstakingly relocated to a new island to save it from rising floodwaters. Glide along the Nile by motorboat on a bird-watching excursion, spotting herons, kingfishers and more. This evening, enjoy a captivating Nubian show with live music and dancing.
Spend the day at leisure or join an optional excursion to the magnificent temples of Abu Simbel — twin rock-cut masterpieces built by Ramses II, relocated in one of history's greatest archaeological feats. Sail onwards to Edfu.
Visit the Temple of Khnum at Esna, one of the last great Egyptian temples ever built, buried under debris for centuries before its rediscovery. Your Egyptologist guide will reveal the temple's secrets, including the last known hieroglyphic inscriptions ever recorded in Egypt. Cruise onwards to Luxor, savoring the majestic Nile scenery along the way.
Disembark in Luxor and transfer to the airport for your return flight to Cairo. Check in to your luxury hotel and enjoy free time to relax and explore the city at your own pace.
A day of bucket-list moments at the Giza Necropolis. Come face-to-face with the enigmatic Great Sphinx — the largest monolith statue in the world — and behold the awe-inspiring Pyramids of Giza up close, including the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the only surviving Wonder of the Ancient World. Also visit the Step Pyramid of King Zoser at Sakkara, the oldest pyramid on earth and prototype for all that followed.
