Itinerary
Explore one of the planet's wildest coastlines, where reefs burst with colourful life, river gorges cut deep inland, and far-flung caves shelter ancient rock art. See extreme tidal forces and venture ashore to geological wonders. Burnt-orange cliffs rise from turquoise seas alive with dolphins and rare sea snakes. Rock-wallabies hop on land, while saltwater crocodiles peer from mudskipper-filled shallows. This is the Kimberley - raw, remote, and untamed.
Board Silver Cloud in Darwin, the tropical capital of Australia's Northern Territory, and settle into your suite as your expedition along the wild Kimberley coastline begins. In port 00:00 - 20:00.
Sail through international waters as you head toward the remote reefs of the Timor Sea, with onboard lectures from the Expedition Team introducing the wildlife, geology and history of the Kimberley coast ahead.
Visit Ashmore Reef, a remote marine reserve teeming with marine life roughly midway between Australia and Indonesia. Zodiac cruises and snorkelling excursions reveal vibrant coral gardens, sea snakes, turtles and an abundance of seabirds on this important nature reserve.
Enjoy a relaxing day at sea as you continue toward the Kimberley coast, with time to make the most of the ship's amenities and further expedition lectures.
Arrive in Wyndham, Western Australia's northernmost town, gateway to the East Kimberley. Explore the Five Rivers Lookout for sweeping views over the meeting of five rivers, encounter saltwater crocodiles, or venture into the striking landscapes of the surrounding wetlands and ranges.
Cruise into Koolama Bay, home to the dramatic sandstone cliffs of the Kimberley coastline, and take a Zodiac excursion to explore the bay's sheltered waters, keeping an eye out for the region's rich birdlife and marine life.
Go ashore at Jar Island in Vansittart Bay to view ancient Gwion Gwion (Bradshaw) rock art, among the oldest examples of human artistic expression in the world, alongside the rusting wreckage of a World War II-era C-53 Skytrooper aircraft.
Navigate the winding mangrove-lined Hunter River by Zodiac, home to saltwater crocodiles and abundant birdlife, en route to the thundering King George Falls - among Australia's tallest twin waterfalls, cascading from a sandstone plateau into the gorge below.
Explore the more than 800 islands of the Buccaneer Archipelago, famed for the Horizontal Falls - a extraordinary tidal phenomenon where powerful currents force seawater through narrow gorges, creating the appearance of a waterfall running sideways.
Spend a further day exploring the Buccaneer Archipelago's remote islands, red sandstone cliffs and pristine waters, with Zodiac cruises and landings revealing the region's remarkable geology and wildlife.
Your expedition through the Kimberley concludes in the pearling town of Broome, known for its Cable Beach, historic Chinatown and rich pearling heritage. In port 06:30 - 13:00.
