Christmas in Finland - 7 Days

Day 1, Kuhmo
22nd December 2026. Upon your arrival at Kajaani Airport, you will be met and transferred to Hotel Kalevala. The scenic drive, spanning about an hour, will treat you to the breathtaking snowy landscapes of the Finnish countryside. Upon reaching the hotel, a refreshing Welcome Drink will be served before you check in.

As the evening unfolds, we come together for our first dinner, marking the beginning of our adventures in this winter wonderland.

Day 2, Kuhmo
Begin this morning with guided city tour covering iconic sites, nature, history, and Finnish culture. Afterwards, enjoy some time to shop or visit a local cafe before returning to the hotel for lunch.

Later in the afternoon, an eagerly awaited encounter awaits as we meet Santa Claus, known as Joulupukki in Finnish tradition. Here, bake gingerbread, make Christmas decorations and meet elves along the way! Children can share their Christmas wishes and secrets with Santa during this magical visit. As the day winds down, we return to our hotel for dinner and the chance to unwind in the onsite saunas and jacuzzis.

Day 3, Kuhmo
This morning, we journey across the picturesque snowy landscape of Kuhmo. The day takes a festive turn as we embark on a special experience: venturing out to fetch our Christmas tree. Once back at the restaurant, we'll join together to decorate it, a cherished tradition where children play a significant role in bringing the tree to life.

In Finland, decorating the Christmas tree is a momentous duty, and today, our group will continue this heartwarming tradition. Lunch will feature Christmas rice porridge, a beloved and traditional dish across Scandinavia during this joyous season. In Finland, the rice porridge holds a special place, especially for the children, as finding the hidden almond promises a prize.

This afternoon, we visit the churchyard at Kuhmo. Here, you'll have the opportunity to light a candle for your loved ones, both near and far. As the day progresses, we gather for an authentic Finnish buffet dinner.

Day 4, Kuhmo
Merry Christmas! Enjoy a two-hour leisure snowshoe tour through the snowy wilderness, followed by hot drinks and snacks by the fire.

As evening falls, we end the day with an unforgettable experience under the stars. Gather around a cosy campfire for a picnic, listening to your guide share local stories while enjoying crepes baked over the open fire. With a little luck, you may even catch a magical glimpse of the Northern Lights dancing across the night sky.

Day 5, Kuhmo
After breakfast, dive into an adventurous Boxing Day with thrilling taster rides including reindeer, husky and horse-drawn sleighs.

Later, feel the rush of a two-hour snowmobile safari as you glide across the snowy Arctic landscapes.

You’ll also have time to choose from optional activities such as rapid swimming or cross-country skiing, or simply enjoy the winter surroundings at your own pace. In the afternoon, unwind in a traditional smoke sauna, embracing true Finnish relaxation to round off the day.

Day 6, Kuhmo
Today is yours to spend at leisure, with a range of optional activities available. Choose from husky trips, snowmobile adventures, rapid swimming, cross-country skiing lessons, aurora excursions, ice fishing, or simply explore the snow-covered landscape using rental snowshoes or cross-country skis.

The day concludes with a special farewell dinner at Santa’s residence, a perfect end to your festive Finnish adventure.

Day 7, Kuhmo
28th December 2026. Our amazing Christmas in Finland comes to an end today after breakfast and hotel check out. There is a transfer included back to Kajaani airport.
