Phuket's Patong Beach is famous for its nightlife but if you're looking to start, rather than finish your day, with the sunrise, it's best to stay way from Bangla Road. Instead, rise bright and early, and fill your days with adventure activities and fun in the sun by the Andaman Sea. Enjoy swimming, snorkelling, scuba diving and jet skiing. Treat yourself to a relaxing beach massage and consider watching a local Muay Thai match.

Here are some of the top activities at Patong Beach.

Aqua Zone Water Park

Patong Beach boasts a fun floating aquatic playground, located near Patong Bay Garden Resort. Across 150 square metres of the sea's surface area are inflatable trampolines, water trotters, saturn launchers, paddle vessels and a giant iceberg. Structures are anchored to the seabed and the area is free from jet skis and other watercraft. The Aqua Zone Water Park is a safe, fun all-day activity for the whole family.

Jet Skiing

The calm conditions and warm tropical waters make Phuket's Patong Beach ideal for jet skiing. Following an overhaul of the industry, operators are required to adhere to strict new safety standards - you'll find that operators are licensed but you should check that your jet ski carries an "insurance jet ski" sticker on its side. Always wear a life vest and stay in the areas cordoned off for watercraft. When you hire a jet ski at Patong Beach you become the pilot of your "life on the fast wave".

Snorkelling & Scuba Diving

Patong Bay boasts many smaller beaches and intimate coves nearby; hot snorkelling spots that can be reached by speedboat, which means that even without a diving license, you can see the beauty below the Andaman Sea's surface. If it's a scuba diving experience you're after, a three-storey air-conditioned dive centre is located on Patong Beach, offering courses, day trips and equipment for hire or purchase. Book a daytrip or take the ferry from Patong Beach to Phi Phi Island and stay for a couple of days of serious diving.

Massage

At the end of an exciting and exhausting day in and out of the Andaman Sea and under the hot sun, Phuket's Patong Beach offers the perfect remedy: a traditional Thai foot massage or full body massage without having to leave the beach. Settle on mats and amongst cushions underneath shady trees or a canopy with a masseuse who has years of experience behind her. For those in need of some additional pampering, choose to enjoy a pedicure and manicure as well.

Muay Thai

Patong Stadium Muay Thai Gym, located on Sai Namyen Road, offers training with professional coaches as well as regular fight nights. The ultimate in unarmed combat, Muay Thai is not for everybody but for those who are happy to attend a display of Thailand's national sport, there is much excitement to be enjoyed ringside.
