Cool Coolangatta

The south end of the Gold Coast is where you’ll find a more relaxed pace of life, where surf culture reigns supreme and some of Australia’s best surf breaks line the white sandy beaches. From Rainbow Beach through Coolangatta and up to Kirra, you'll love the cruise beach lifestyle at this end of the coast.

Nobby Beach

The Gold Coast’s up-and-coming hippest suburb, trendy Nobby Beach, is sandwiched between Mermaid Beach and Miami. Boasting probably the biggest concentration of hipster hangouts in one enclave, this is the place to come to enjoy cool live music, grab some great coffee and be seen.

Burleigh Beach

A true pedigree of hipster suburbs on the Gold Coast. Burleigh Beach has a laid back bohemian vibe, complete with one of the coast’s top beaches (home to the annual Quiky Pro). There’s a definite surfy Byron Bay-esque beachy feel about the place, which has set the tone for the area. Head to trendy James Street and hit the shops for up-and-coming designers, as well as established “It’ labels, before grabbing a bite to eat at some of the many cosy cafes and whole foods style restaurants. Every first and third Sunday of the month, Burleigh buzzes with the boutique fashion and lifestyle market - The Village Markets. This is a favourite hangout for local hipsters who come to listen to great music, discover local designers, and indulge in delicious food and drinks.

Surfers Paradise & Broadbeach

The famous jewels of the Gold Coast may be brimming with polished boutique shops, upmarket hotels and tourist attractions aplenty, but look beneath the polished veneer and you’ll find some great hipster hangs here too.
