The year has begun, we’re back to work and resolutions have kicked in. Everybody is feeling the pinch of the rising cost of living and common resolutions will be sorting out finances, saving money and tightening the budget. As you start to look for expenses to cut and go to cut travel out of your budget though, remember that it will help you get through day-to-day life if you have a trip to look forward to. If you find yourself dreaming about a tropical getaway while making your daily commute in a crammed train carriage through the concrete jungle, we’re here to show you that you can take off on one without forking out lots of money. To help, we’ve put together six of the hottest budget tropical holidays, so you can take off without ruining your New Year's resolutions.

Hawai'i

With eight major Islands to choose from, you’ll easily find a great deal in this tropical destination famous for epic surf, fun vibes and jaw-dropping natural beauty. Oahu is one of the most popular of the Islands where you can swim with the sea turtles at Hanauma Bay, surf the waves of Waikiki Beach, or take in the views from Diamond Head.

Fiji

No tropical holiday list is complete without Fiji, a place that has something for every type of traveler. Whether you’re a couple looking for a romantic escape or you want to take the kids somewhere they won’t be bored, you’ll find what you want in Fiji and for a great price.

A perfect warm climate, pristine sandy beaches and some of the friendliest people on earth is what Fiji is famous for, but you’ll also witness stunning coral reefs, crystal clear waters and lush rainforest hiking tracks.

Tropical North Queensland

Take a trip north and explore the tropical heart of Queensland, where the ancient Daintree Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef meet. Arrive at the coastal hot spot of Cairns, visit Hartley's Crocodile Adventure, and come face to face with the region's favourite fauna, including crocodiles, snakes, water birds, wallabies, and more.

Take the scenic hour's drive from Cairns to the first-class beach of Port Douglas and the famous Four Mile Beach. No trip to the Tropical North would be complete without a trip to the Outer Reef. Spend the day on the custom-built pontoon with Quicksilver, snorkelling and diving the amazing Great Barrier Reef.

The Gold Coast offers seventy kilometres of pristine beaches, and the best part is that spending the day at one costs nothing!
