Just a short flight from Australia, the inviting island nation of Fiji possesses some of the most beautiful beaches and coral reef coastlines in the world. Just two of the lovely 332 Fijian islands contain almost ninety percent of the nation's population which means there is a lot of gorgeous, unspoilt beachside scenery to enjoy.  Whatever kind of beach holiday you enjoy, you'll find the perfect getaway here.  From secluded beach side huts to developed resort area getaways offering shopping and nightlife, the great beaches here will make you want to return again and again.

It's hard to pin down the best beaches in this island paradise, but let's have a look at our picks for the top five Fiji beaches.

Natadola Beach - Viti Levu
Located about 30 minutes outside of Nadi, this is the best beach on the island of Viti Levu.  Its stunning natural setting is a major draw and a perfect place to relax and take in the beautiful Pacific scenery.  Consistent waves and inviting water depth make this an ideal spot for swimming and snorkelling.  While the beach is mostly undeveloped there are resorts that are starting to appear, but for now, the beautiful white sand beach is relatively undisturbed.

Volivoli Beach – Viti Levu
Near the village of Rakiraki, Volivoli Beach features a beautiful wide lagoon with a stunning view towards the island's mountains.  Swimming is difficult on many beaches during low tide but the deeper waters at Volivoli offer great swimming while snorkelling is popular along the coral reefs.  The nearby Volivoli Beach Resort offers affordable accommodation and many beach activities to enjoy.

Nanuya Lailai Island
The secluded Nanuya Lailai Beach near the Nanuya Island Resort is known for its lovely natural setting and crystal clear waters.  Services and facilities provided by the resort create an idyllic South Pacific setting where visitors can choose to lounge in a beachside hammock among the swaying palm trees or take advantage of the many water sports activities available including kayaking, diving and fish feeding.

Matana Beach – Kadavu Island
This unspoilt slice of heaven is perfect for a quiet getaway where you can leave the hassles of civilisation behind.  The long, white sand beaches offer turquoise blue water, beautiful scenery and several nearby resorts.  The perfect beach for relaxation, it is fringed with tall palm trees and offers striking views of the surrounding mountains.  If you're after something slightly more adventurous, then the beachside resorts offer everything from diving and snorkelling activities to kayaking and boat rides.

Vatulele Island Beach
The long, glistening stretch of Vatulele Island Beach is situated near beautiful coral reefs and some of the countries most luxurious accommodation.  While the island is 31 square kilometres in area, less than 1,000 people live here giving this idyllic island destination an air of exclusivity.   From nearby resorts, visitors can enjoy sailing and many other water based recreational activities.

As you can see, Fiji is a South Pacific paradise offering the best in beach life and resort accommodation.  Beautiful beaches, inviting coves and warm Fijian hospitality make this a popular destination any time of year.
