Norwegian Star Onboard Experiences
Dining and bars
Every Norwegian Star cruise includes Complimentary dining in the two main dining rooms, at the expansive buffet, and across a variety of casual cafes, grills and on-the-go eateries. Specialty dining is also offered, at new-look restaurants such as Le Bistro, La Cucina, Garden Cafe and Norwegian’s signature Teppanyaki restaurant. Norwegian Star also gives you the chance to get more value from your holiday budget with a variety of Specialty Dining Packages. During its dry dock, Norwegian Star also had its bars, lounges, restaurants and public spaces transformed. The Sky High Bar is a completely new venue, with an outdoor bar and lounge that offers the best views on board. Bliss Ultra Lounge is new as well, and is the place to go for late-night entertainment. Atrium Cafe & Bar and Garden Cafe were also refreshed and improved.
When you’re not exploring one of the many port towns visited by Norwegian Star, you’ll find just as many things to do on board. You can take part in enrichment seminars giving you an insight into the cultures and history of the region you’re visiting, catch a movie in the theatre, sample some of the world’s best wines with a tasting experience at the Wine Cellar or cosy up with a good book in the Library. There are plenty of family-friendly activities aboard Norwegian Star as well, such as golf chipping contests and other organised events on the public decks.
Kids and families
Children and families will find no end of fun things to do aboard Norwegian Star cruises. For the kids, Splash Academy Youth Programs start with Guppies for the youngest cruisers aged 6 months to under 3 years; Turtles for little ones aged 3 to 5, Seals for kids aged 6 to 9 and Dolphins for kids aged 10 to 12. Entourage, the program for teens, includes fun things to do like music jamming, sports or even getting behind the camera and making movies. The Video Zone is an arcade space with everything from the latest gaming to classic pinball machines. Teen Club is a space where teens can hang out away from Mum and Dad, and when it comes to catering, Norwegian Star offers children’s menus in the main dining rooms.
Fitness and wellbeing
You won’t find a climbing wall or surf simulator aboard Norwegian Star but there are a number of ways to stay active and look after yourself in mind, body and spirit. The walking and jogging track on Deck 13 gives you the chance to stretch your legs and take in the mesmerising view, there is a 12-metre indoor lap pool in the Barong Spa, and the Barong Fitness Centre on Deck 12 also gives you a workout-with-a-view, overlooking the stern’s wake. Deck 14 has a basketball/volleyball court if you want to rustle up a game with other guests, there are six hot tubs on Deck 12, and if pampering is an essential part of the cruise experience for you, you’re in luck – Mandara Spa & Salon offers a full range of spa treatments and is also a full service beauty salon. For the ultimate in rejuvenation, check out the Thalasso Therapy Pool and treat yourself to a sauna at the Spa Thermal Suite on Deck 11.
Shows and nightlife
Much of the entertainment aboard Norwegian Star takes place at the 1,100-seat Stardust Theatre, a three-deck venue reminiscent of the classic opera houses of Europe. Here you’ll have the opportunity to see the Norwegian Production Cast and Orchestra put on epic Broadway-style productions and other dazzling shows. Norwegian Star consistently impresses with its guest performers, from hilarious comedians to acrobatic performers. As part of the recent ship upgrade, Norwegian Star now offers another nightlife venue to enjoy in Spice H20. This adults-only enclave is like a private spa during the day and transforms into an open-air lounge with live entertainment, DJs and fun theme nights.
Services and accessibility
Norwegian Cruise Lines has an impressive commitment to looking after passengers with special needs, and has a dedicated team of Access Coordinators to help with any requirements and enquiries, as well as many bespoke onboard facilities. Passengers with limited mobility, hearing or vision impairments as well as disabled children can all be accommodated on board Norwegian Star, depending on availability. It’s essential to book well in advance if you have special needs, so please talk to a Flight Centre Cruise Expert if you have any specific questions about accessibility aboard Norwegian Star.
Significant improvements were made to all 1,174 staterooms and suites during the recent dry dock, including the installation of USB ports, over 1,500 works of art, new carpet, headboards and select furniture. The three-bedroom garden villas which feature private deck areas and can accommodate up to seven people were also remodeled to offer a light and airy design. These are the largest suites onboard, have their very own living room, dining room, private garden with hot tub, and come with a butler and concierge service. Accommodation aboard Norwegian Star is divided into Suite, Mini-Suite, Balcony, Oceanview and Inside. Inside rooms are the most economical, while still offering stylish fittings, television, sitting area and more.
