Information about Jetstar

Jetstar is a low-cost subsidiary of the Australian aviation giant, Qantas, offering cheap flights around Australia and to a selection of international destinations including New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Hawaii and every Aussie’s favourite budget holiday spot – Bali! Since launching in 2004, Jetstar flights have welcomed over 250 million passengers on board their iconic orange fleet, and the airline operates over 5,000 flights every week. As a budget airline, travelling light is advised since checked bags aren’t included with Jetstar tickets in the popular Starter category – although you can always add extra bags to your flight booking if you’re in need of some extra souvenir space! Take off for less and book your Jetstar airfare online or in-store today.

Frequently asked questions

Keep an eye on this page to see what Jetstar specials are currently available or ask your Travel Expert to help you find the perfect flight itinerary for your next trip. You can book cheap Jetstar flights with us online, through the Flight Centre App or in-store with one of our Travel Experts. Can’t find exactly what you’re looking for? Check out our flight deals for other airline options to get your holiday off the ground!

This will depend on the terms and conditions of your specific Jetstar flight booking and change fees may apply. More information on how to change your booking is available in our Help Centre and within our Booking Terms and Conditions.

Currently, we don’t offer fare alerts for international flights, but you can sign up for domestic fare alerts on our website. Looking for the easiest way to stay up to date on Jetstar promotions and other flight deals as they come in to land? Subscribe for email updates and download the Flight Centre App to make sure you never miss a saving!

There are plenty of ways to pay for your Jetstar flight booking, including credit or debit cards, PayPal, CommBank Awards points and Flight Centre Gift Cards. More information and a full list of accepted payment methods is available in our Help Centre.

To check the status of your Jetstar flights after booking, talk to your Travel Expert or use the real-time flight status search tool on the Jetstar website if you’re departing within the next few days. More information on how to manage your booking and flight change notifications can also be found in our Help Centre.

While last-minute Jetstar sale fares may become available, you’ll generally find it pays to plan ahead when booking flights. Most airlines release tickets around 11 months in advance, and as a rough guide, we recommend booking between six and nine months before you plan to fly. When it comes to balancing flexible travel dates with the biggest savings, this should give you the best of both worlds!

We know there’s nothing more frustrating than seeing the Jetstar airfare you just booked go on sale, so consider adding our Captain’s Pack when booking in-store or our Online Captain’s Pack when booking online for Price Drop Protection options and other benefits.

Flying on Jetstar’s famously affordable Starter fare? You’ll be able to bring one personal item and one carry-on bag (56 cm x 36 cm x 23 cm) with a combined maximum weight of 7kg. As a low-cost airline, Starter Jetstar tickets don’t include any checked bags. Need to add extra baggage to your flight booking? Talk to your Travel Expert before heading to the airport!

Remember, baggage allowances will vary depending on your flight itinerary, ticket class and loyalty program status, so check your tickets to see what’s included with your Jetstar airfare.

You may be able to earn frequent flyer points on eligible Jetstar flights booked with us. When booking online, you’ll see a place to add your loyalty program or frequent flyer membership details if this is available for your flights, or you can ask your Travel Expert to do it for you when booking in-store. If the airfare meets your program’s requirements, you’ll earn points! For more information, check with your specific loyalty program and see our Booking Terms and Conditions.

Melbourne (MEL), Sydney (SYD): Jetstar’s domestic backbone in Australia! As a low-cost carrier, it offers competitive fares on high-traffic routes.

Gold Coast (OOL), Cairns (CNS): Popular with leisure travellers – the Gold Coast for theme parks, iconic beaches and entertainment, Cairns as a gateway to the Great Barrier Reef.

Denpasar (DPS), Phuket (HKT): Leisure routes to Southeast Asia destinations like Bali and Thailand are extremely popular among Australian travellers.

Auckland (AKL): Key flight route across the Tasman from both Melbourne and Sydney to New Zealand.

We sure do! When you book Jetstar flights with us, you’ll have access to our experienced team of Travel Experts before you take off, as well as 24/7 emergency support while you’re away for added peace of mind. More information on how to contact us can be found in our Help Centre, or you can always talk to your Travel Expert if you made your Jetstar flight booking in-store.
