One of the best-known international airline brands in the world would have to be Qantas, helped along by Hollywood (thank you, Rain Man)! The flag carrier of Australia is also one of the country’s biggest airlines, with Qantas flights operating to an extensive network of destinations spanning Asia, the South Pacific, the Middle East, North America, Europe and beyond.
Qantas flights are known for delivering friendly, high-quality service. The airline’s iconic Kangaroo Route first took to the skies in 1947, connecting Aussies with the UK and helping to shape the future of long-haul travel to and from the land Down Under. Qantas tickets are available in Economy, Premium Economy, Business and First Class, and the airline is a founding member of the oneworld Alliance. Book your Qantas airfare online or in-store today!

This will depend on the terms and conditions of your specific Qantas flight booking and change fees may apply. More information on how to change your booking is available in our Help Centre and within our Booking Terms and Conditions.

More information on how to manage your booking and flight change notifications can also be found in our Help Centre.
While last-minute Qantas sale fares may become available, you’ll generally find it pays to plan ahead, especially when booking international flights. Most airlines release tickets around 11 months in advance, and as a rough guide, we recommend booking between six and nine months before you plan to fly. When it comes to balancing flexible travel dates with the biggest savings, this should give you the best of both worlds!
We know there’s nothing more frustrating than seeing the Qantas airfare you just booked go on sale, so consider adding our Captain’s Pack when booking in-store or our Online Captain’s Pack when booking online for Price Drop Protection options and other benefits.
Flying domestic? Qantas tickets will generally allow you to bring one personal item plus a choice between one standard carry-on bag (56 cm x 36 cm x 23 cm) weighing up to 10kg OR two smaller carry-on bags (48 cm x 34 cm x 23 cm) with a combined maximum weight of 14kg. In most cases, Economy passengers can also bring one checked bag weighing up to 23kg.
Flying international? Most Economy Qantas airfares will allow you to bring one personal item and one carry-on bag (56 cm x 36 cm x 23 cm) weighing up to 7kg. You’ll likely also be able to bring one checked bag with a maximum weight of 30kg.
Remember, baggage allowances will vary depending on your flight itinerary, ticket class and loyalty program status, so check your tickets to see what’s included with your Qantas flights. Need to add extra baggage to your flight booking? Talk to your Travel Expert before heading to the airport!
Absolutely! Remember to add your Qantas Frequent Flyer or loyalty program membership details when you book Qantas flights online or ask your Travel Expert to do it for you when booking in-store. As long as the airfare meets your program’s requirements, you’ll earn points. For more information, check with your specific loyalty program and see our Booking Terms and Conditions.
Sydney (SYD): Apart from being a primary hub, Sydney is Australia’s biggest city and financial centre. Qantas operates an extensive domestic network from here and runs flagship long-haul services to the USA (Los Angeles, Dallas-Fort Worth) and Europe (typically via Singapore or Perth).
Melbourne (MEL): A significant cultural and economic centre, Qantas uses Melbourne for both domestic connections and international routes, including to the USA and Asia.
Brisbane (BNE): Qantas has been increasing international services from Brisbane, catering to the growing local market.
Los Angeles (LAX): Historically important transpacific route. Qantas has strong brand recognition in the US–Australia market.
London Heathrow (LHR): The Kangaroo Route between Australia and the UK is a classic route for Qantas passengers. They’ve operated it via Singapore, Dubai (in partnership with Emirates) and, more recently, Perth.
