While last-minute United Airlines sale fares may become available, you’ll generally find it pays to plan ahead. Most airlines release tickets around 11 months in advance, and as a rough guide, we recommend you book United Airlines flights between six and nine months before you plan to travel. When it comes to balancing airfare availability with the biggest savings, this should give you the best of both worlds!
We know there’s nothing more frustrating than seeing the United Airlines airfare you just booked go on sale, so consider adding our Captain’s Pack when booking in-store or our Online Captain’s Pack when booking online for Price Drop Protection options and other benefits.
Flying in Economy? Most United Airlines tickets allow you to bring one personal item (22 cm x 25 cm x 43 cm) and one carry-on bag (23 cm x 53 cm x 56 cm) on board. Passengers can also generally travel with one checked bag weighing up to 23kg with a maximum linear dimension of 157 cm. The linear dimension of your bag is calculated by adding the height, length and width (including wheels and handles).
Keep in mind, baggage allowances will vary depending on your flight itinerary, ticket class and loyalty program status, so check your tickets to see what’s included with your United Airlines airfare. Need to add extra baggage to your flight booking? Talk to your Travel Expert before heading to the airport!
You may be able to earn frequent flyer points on eligible United Airlines flights booked with us. When booking online, you’ll see a place to add your loyalty program or frequent flyer membership details if this is available for your flights, or you can ask your Travel Expert to do it for you when booking in-store. If your airfare meets your program’s requirements, you’ll earn points! For more information, check with your specific loyalty program and see our Booking Terms and Conditions.
Chicago is the historic headquarters of United Airlines and continues to serve as a major domestic and international hub.
