A view of Melbourne City

Manchester Press, Rankins Lane

Slip down Rankins Lane and you’ll find the popular cafe, Manchester Press. This trendy hotspot is a local favourite, not just because of its hipster fit out and cool clientele but because of the handmade bagels. Embrace your inner Aussie and go with an avo and fetta smash bagel or for something a little more substantial, opt for the Texas BBQ pulled pork bagel. The tender meat is slow roasted for 14 hours, soaked in BBQ sauce and then topped with homemade slaw and pickles.

Chin Chin, Flinders Lane

Flinders Lane is packed with incredible food choices, but our pick is Chin Chin. This funky restaurant serves up authentic South-East Asian dishes, inspired by the hawker dining halls of Asia. All of their sauces, pastes and relishes are made in-house so you are guaranteed a tasty bite. On the lighter side, try their jungle spiced chicken and pork spring rolls or the chilli salt chicken wings. On the other hand, why not dive fork first into a flavourful rendang curry with wagyu beef.

Cure those hunger pains with a plate of freshly made dumplings at HuTong. This popular dumpling bar specialises in Chinese-influenced home-style dishes with a warm and inviting atmosphere. Dig into dim sum with hot chilli sauce wontons or prawn, crab or pork dumplings. Classic local dishes on the menu include honey lemon chicken and pork spare ribs. Needless to say, you won’t be leaving here hungry. Just be aware it gets busy so it’s best to book.

Tonka, Duckboard Place

Situated just off Flinders Lane down one of Melbourne’s iconic laneways, Duckboard Place, Tonka is one cool restaurant. Celebrating the vibrancy and unique flavours of India, Tonka serves up tasty dishes alongside an award-winning wine list.
