Still waiting for the day when you stumble across a flash mob doing an amazing choreographed performance? Find yourself loitering around in airports, train stations and world-famous locations waiting for one to happen? Here’s a roundup of some of the most famous airport, train station and major location flash mobs from around the world to get you inspired and who knows, maybe next time you’re at Grand Central...

Denver Airport, Denver, 2011

Approximately 100 dancers from Community-Minded Dance performed the Lindy Hop (an American dance that evolved in Harlem, New York City) to a medley of Swing classics in the airport's Great Hall in Denver, Colorado. Video by Rich Clarkson & Assoc.

Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center, Manila, 2009

Okay, so you might not be planning a visit to prison anytime soon, I don’t know, maybe you are? The real question is: could you pull off a Michael Jackson flash mob from the inside like these guys? Very impressive.

Liverpool Station, London, 2009

T-Mobile arranges a pretty great flash mob in a busy central London train station – certainly helps brighten a gloomy London day. One of the first major company-sponsored mobs to date.

Hong Kong International Airport, 2013

While seems a little like everyone was expecting it, this flash from Cathay Pacific has all the ‘key flash mob criteria’: heart-warming, well produced, classic make-you-wanna-dance feels, and, Destiny’s Child.

Gare du Nord, Paris, 2011

This one is a little different, a little more ‘Parisian’ (read: classy) perhaps.  60 musicians showed up to play an excerpt of the L'arlesienne by Bizet in the hall of Paris North station. No booty shaking, but lots of skilled musicians for a delightful impromptu performance.

Grand Central Station, New York, 2013

This one’s a little different too, and crazy clever. A surprise celebration of lights on the night of Grand Central Terminal's 100th Birthday!

Bondi Beach, Sydney, 2009

This might make you think twice about where you throw your towel down nice time you’re at the beach. Over 100 dancers surprised Bondi Beach with a flash mob organised by DJ Dan Murphy and starring one of Australia's most famous drag queens, Joyce Maynge. Australian do beaches well, and they we flash mobs pretty well too – even in the heat and sand.

Sydney Opera House, Sydney, 2010

And what’s better than a beach flash mob? A Sydney Opera House flash mob, set to the musical soundtrack of Australia’s musical darlings, Dannii and Kylie Minogue.
