While last-minute Delta Air Lines sale fares may become available, you’ll generally find it pays to plan ahead, especially if you’re booking long-haul international flights. Most airlines release tickets around 11 months in advance, and as a rough guide, we recommend booking your flights between six and nine months before you fly. When it comes to balancing flexible travel dates with the biggest savings, this should give you the best of both worlds!

You can generally bring one carry-on bag (56 cm x 36 cm x 23 cm) when flying with Delta Air Lines. In most cases, checked baggage isn’t included for passengers travelling in Basic Economy and must be purchased separately. Some exceptions include select airfares to or from Australia and New Zealand, where passengers may be able to bring one checked bag free of charge.
