Information about KLM

Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij (literally Royal Aviation Company), or KLM as non-Dutch speaking folk are very happy to call it, is the national airline of the Netherlands. The headquarters for KLM is in Amstelveen, just outside of the capital, with the airline’s main hub at the nearby Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. Founded in 1919, KLM is officially the world’s oldest airline still flying under its original name. In 2004, KLM joined forces with Air France and is now operating as part of the Air France-KLM Group. KLM is a member of the global SkyTeam airline alliance, giving its passengers access to a network of 19 partner airlines jointly flying to over 1,000 destinations all over the world. KLM tickets are available in Economy, Premium Comfort and Business Class. Book your KLM flights online or in-store today!

While last-minute KLM sale fares may become available, you’ll generally find it pays to plan ahead. Most airlines release tickets around 11 months in advance, and as a rough guide, we recommend you book KLM flights between six and nine months before you plan to travel. When it comes to balancing airfare availability with the biggest savings, this should give you the best of both worlds!

We know there’s nothing more frustrating than seeing the KLM airfare you just booked go on sale, so consider adding our Captain’s Pack when booking in-store or our Online Captain’s Pack when booking online for Price Drop Protection options and other benefits.

Flying in Economy? KLM tickets will generally allow you to bring one personal item and one carry-on bag (55 cm x 35 cm x 25 cm) with a maximum combined weight of 12kg.

In most cases, Standard or Flex Economy passengers can bring one checked bag weighing up to 23kg with a maximum linear dimension of 158 cm. The linear dimension of your bag is calculated by adding the height, length and width (including wheels and handles).

Baggage allowances will vary depending on your flight itinerary, ticket class and loyalty program status, so check your specific tickets to see what’s included with your KLM airfare. Need to add extra baggage to your flight booking? Talk to your Travel Expert before heading to the airport!

You may be able to earn frequent flyer points on eligible KLM flights booked with us. When booking online, you’ll see a place to add your loyalty program or frequent flyer membership details if this is available for your flights, or you can ask your Travel Expert to do it for you when booking in-store. If your airfare meets your program’s requirements, you’ll earn points! For more information, check with your specific loyalty program and see our Booking Terms and Conditions

Amsterdam Schiphol Airport is KLM’s main hub, connecting flights across Europe and beyond. London and Paris are popular short-haul routes, while New York is a key destination for travellers on transatlantic flights. Dubai, Singapore and Hong Kong connect major intercontinental routes for KLM, and Bonaire, Curaçao and Aruba are important Caribbean destinations with ties to Dutch territories.

We sure do! By booking your KLM airfare with us, you’ll have access to our experienced team of Travel Experts before you take off, as well as 24/7 emergency support while you’re away for added peace of mind. More information on how to contact us can be found in our Help Centre, or you can always talk to your Travel Expert if you made your KLM flight booking in-store.
