Check-in

If you’re travelling internationally, Brisbane Airport recommends that you arrive at least three hours before your scheduled departure time and all international check-in desks can be found on Level 4 of the International Terminal, in the Departures Hall. It’s always a good idea to arrive nice and early for your flight, and to confirm check-in times directly with your airline as each may have different requirements. It’s often possible to check in for your flights online in advance via your airline’s website or app, which can be an easy way to save time at the airport on the day of travel.

Baggage

Baggage allowances vary by airline and ticket class, so it’s important to confirm what’s included with your flight booking to avoid any surprises at bag drop! For more specific information on baggage limits, such as the size, weight and number of bags included in your airfare, check with your airline or ask your Travel Expert for assistance. Brisbane Airport offers a variety of baggage services for travellers in the International Terminal, including luggage scales, trolleys, storage lockers and wrapping services.

Facilities

There are a wide range of facilities available throughout Brisbane Airport for your comfort, convenience and use before or after your flight.

  • Baggage storage, luggage wrapping and trolleys
  • Currency exchange and ATMs
  • Free airport Wi-Fi
  • Mail services
  • Shower facilities

Transport and terminal transfers

Looking for the best ways to get to and from Brisbane Airport? There are plenty of ground transportation options available.

Both short-term and long-term parking is available at Brisbane Airport, with easy access to both the Domestic and International Terminals. The ParkLong car park is the most popular option for most travellers, providing a good balance of affordability and proximity to both terminals. Brisbane Airport also offers the AIRPARK facility – a stand-alone car park located 10-15 minutes from the terminals. For your convenience, a free shuttle bus runs between the AIRPARK and the terminals every 15 minutes during peak times and every 30 minutes outside of peak times. No matter which parking option you choose, we’d recommend booking in advance to secure your spot and access the best rate.

Dedicated Pick-up and Drop-off zones are available outside both the Domestic Terminal and the International Terminal at Brisbane Airport. When picking up from the Domestic Terminal, you’ll be asked to move along if your passenger isn’t ready and waiting for you when you arrive. At the International Terminal, you’ll be permitted to wait for up to 10 minutes for free in the Passenger Pick-up area if your passenger is on their way.

As far as convenience goes, it’s hard to beat Brisbane’s Airtrain service. Running from Brisbane Airport to Central Station in the city (and vice versa) every 15 minutes during peak times and every 30 minutes on weekends and during off-peak periods, the trip takes just 20 minutes. Visit the Airtrain website for up-to-date information on timetables and fares, or to book a ticket.

Brisbane Airport has two terminals, a Domestic Terminal and an International Terminal, housed in nearby (but separate) buildings. A free Terminal Transfer Bus Service operates roughly every 10 minutes between the Domestic and International Terminals between 4am and 1:30am.

You'll find most of the big car rental companies at Brisbane Airport, including AVIS, Budget, Europcar, Hertz and Sixt. At the International Terminal, car hire counters are available in the Arrivals Hall on Level 2. Talk to your Travel Expert about organising car hire for your trip or book it yourself online before you leave.

One of the cheapest ways to get to and from Brisbane Airport is via the local buses operated by Brisbane City Council. There are a number of different bus routes that service the airport from the nearby Skygate Centre (easily accessible thanks to the Skygate Loop service), where you’ll be able to connect with a wider network of public transport options to Brisbane’s city centre and beyond. Visit the Translink website for up-to-date information on bus timetables and fares.

Taxis are available from the International Terminal at Brisbane Airport 24/7, with the taxi rank centrally located right in front of the terminal building on Level 2. Uber and other rideshare services are also available, and you’ll be collected from the open-air car park on Level 1.
