About Fiji Airport (NAN)

Fiji Airport (NAN), officially named Nadi International Airport, is the major airport and gateway to the islands of Fiji. The airport is located on the opposite side of the island to the capital of Suva, which is serviced by its own smaller international airport, Nausori International Airport. Nadi was chosen as the location for Fiji’s major airport thanks to its drier weather on Viti Levu’s west coast. Fiji Airport is about 20 minutes away from the popular resorts of Denarau Island and is the hub of Fiji Airways, the island’s national carrier.

Check-in

Fiji Airport has two terminals: one for international flights and one for domestic. It’s always a good idea to arrive at the airport nice and early for your flight, and to confirm check-in times directly with your airline as each may have different requirements. Remember, it’s often possible to check in for your flights online in advance via your airline’s website or app, which can be a good way to save time at the airport on the day of travel.

Baggage

Baggage allowances vary by airline and ticket class, so it’s important to confirm what’s included with your flight booking to avoid any surprises at bag drop! For more specific information on baggage limits, such as the size, weight and number of bags included in your airfare, check with your airline or ask your Travel Expert for assistance. Need to store your bags at Fiji Airport? You’ll find a luggage storage facility on the ground floor of the Arrivals area. Just make sure you collect any items within two months or they’ll be deemed abandoned and become the official property of Fiji Airport!

Facilities

There are a range of facilities available at Fiji Airport for your convenience and use before or after your flight.

  • Baggage storage and trolleys
  • Free airport Wi-Fi
  • Currency exchange and ATMs

Transport and terminal transfers

Looking for the best ways to get to and from Fiji Airport? There are plenty of ground transportation options available.

There is parking available at Fiji Airport, but it’s limited. If you have a car that you’re planning to leave at the airport (while you hop over to another island, for example) there is one car park with a capacity of 347 vehicles.

Car rental companies, including AVIS, Budget and Hertz, are available at Fiji Airport. Talk to your Travel Expert about organising car hire for your trip or book it yourself online before you leave.

It’s easy to jump in a taxi once you exit the Arrivals area at Fiji Airport! All trips should be metered (so make sure the meter is on), and it’s worth noting that Fiji’s yellow taxis only accept cash payments.

If you’re staying on the Mamanuca Islands, South Sea Cruises offers fast, regular catamaran transfers from Fiji Airport to the famous resort destination.

There are several public bus companies that operate out of Fiji Airport, although travel time can be lengthy. If you’re considering public transport, Sunbeam and Pacific Express bus lines all service Fiji Airport. Visit the official transport websites for up-to-date information on public transport timetables and fares.

The domestic and international terminals at Fiji Airport are a short walk apart, making it easy to transfer between the terminals.
