Experienced 4WD enthusiasts, don’t miss your chance to visit Koolpin Gorge, which is accessible only by 4WD and requires a permit to enter, but it offers some of the most secluded and pristine wilderness experiences in the park. No matter where you go in Kakadu National Park, be sure to follow all park rules and regulations and respect the cultural significance of the area to the Indigenous traditional owners.

The best time to visit Kakadu National Park is during the dry season, which runs from May to October. During this time, the days are warm and sunny with little to no rainfall, making it the perfect time to explore the park and enjoy outdoor activities.
