Staying in Fort Kochi puts you at the centre of the major sights in Kochi. From here you can walk to many of the places you’ll want to see on your Kochi holiday, and travelling on foot through this historic district gives you a chance to discover hidden gems along the way.

The best time to visit Kochi is between October and March, which is broadly the winter season in Kerala, India. If you’re visiting in October you may catch the end of monsoon season, so make sure you pack a raincoat.

Wander around Fort Kochi and stumble upon Mattancherry Palace, the Paradesi Synagogue, Santa Cruz Cathedral, and the Jewish town. Check out the Fort Kochi or Cherai beaches, and marvel at the Chinese fishing nets.

You could see all the main sights of Kochi in one or two days, but why rush? Give yourself four or five days (or more!) if you want to explore Kochi at a leisurely pace and have the luxury of time to lose hours on the beach or by the resort pool before moving on to see the rest of Kerala.

Comfortable shoes and clothing, sunscreen, hand sanitiser and insect repellent are essential for a stress-free Kochi holiday. If you’re visiting during monsoon season (June to August, and again in October-November) pack a raincoat!
