If time is of the essence, there are several different day trips in Cebu depending on your interests. For history buffs and culture vultures, a heritage-focussed day tour is ideal as it covers the majority of Cebu’s most historical sites. Those who can’t resist a little bit of island hopping can soak in the sun on an island tour while adrenalin junkies can embark upon a canyoneering and waterfalls tour. 

Cebu is the kind of place you could easily fill a week and still have more to discover. If you’re pushed for time, however, five days would give you plenty of time to see the main sites as well as an island or two. 

Generally the best time to visit Cebu is between January and April, although be warned that from March to May, humidity is at a high (so be prepared to sweat). The summer months (June, July and August) also coincide with the monsoon months, so rainfall is likely.

History buffs and culture vultures will love taking a tour of Taoist Temple, Casa Gorordo Museum and Fort San Pedro, while those who can’t resist a little bit of island hopping or snorkelling can do a little island hopping. Adrenalin junkies can get their fix with a little canyoneering at Kawasan Falls while foodies will love exploring the various restaurants and markets with an empty stomach.

From pre-colonial times to the Spanish and Chinese influences, the culinary culture in Cebu is diverse and straight-up delicious. Delightfully fresh seafood is a must-try but, if you believe the whispers, Cebu claims to have the best roasted pork in the Philippines. Lechon, a roasted suckling pig on the spit, is a local delicacy.

It can get pretty hot and humid in Cebu so light, breathable clothing is a must! Comfortable shoes for seeing the sights as well as some swimming gear if you plan to hit the islands. Be sure to pack your appetite, too, as the culinary scene here in Cebu will have you bursting at the seams.
