It’s said that everything is bigger in Texas and that’s certainly true when it comes to fun and adventures in Dallas. A vibrant and diverse city, a Dallas holiday is bursting with things to see, do and devour. Start in the Dallas area, specifically the Bishop Arts District, where you'll be greeted with trendy boutiques, art galleries and some of the best restaurants in the city. For a hefty dose of culture, wander around one of the many museums, including the world-famous JFK Museum, which chronicles the life and legacy of President John F. Kennedy (including the somber site where he was assassinated in 1963), or the Nasher Sculpture Center, where you can admire an incredible collection of contemporary sculptures and installations. If there’s three things the folk in Dallas take seriously, it’s live music, Texas BBQ and the Dallas Cowboys – so be sure to carve out some time to fully appreciate all three. If you’re lucky, you might be able to catch a game at the Cowboys’ new home AT&T Stadium. Thrill-seekers, if it’s hair-raising adventures you seek, head over to Six Flags Over Texas, an amusement park with dozens of rides and attractions for all ages. After all of that excitement, you’ll be in need of a good night’s rest and thankfully, when it comes to hotels, Dallas delivers with a wide range of options from budget to bougie. Absolutely! In fact, Dallas ranks pretty high on the walkability scale and you can get in and around Downtown in around 30-minutes. There are plenty of restaurants all within a hop, skip and a jump of hotels and apartments, so be sure to pack your walking shoes.
It’s hard to be overdressed in Dallas. If wining and dining is on your to-do list, be sure to pack your glad rags but maybe opt for some dressy flats as you’ll be guaranteed to be doing some walking. For daytime, light layers and comfortable shoes are ideal for sightseeing, but be sure to pack a rain jacket for those unpredictable moments.
Downtown Dallas boasts the highest concentration of the city’s tourist attractions, from museums to live music venues, so be sure to carve out some solid time exploring Downtown. Deep Ellum is one of the city’s oldest and most historic neighbourhoods and is lined with live-music venues. Uptown and Bishop Arts District are ideal for those who can’t resist a little retail therapy, while Oak Lawn is popular with Dallas’ LGBTIQA+ community. The Arts District is spread over 20 square blocks so be sure to allow enough time for museum hopping, eating and drinking.
