Travel tips from the experts
If you are travelling at high season, it's always best to be booking further away from the time of travel.
What to know before you fly to Italy?
With all its history, culture, incredible food and so much more, Italy is a wonderful country to visit any time of year. The best time to travel to Italy is during the seasons either side of summer, so in April and May, and from mid-September through October. Flying to Italy at these times is when you’ll avoid the heat, most of the crowds, but still enjoy mild temperatures and long daylight hours.
Airports in Italy
Italy’s busiest airport and major international hub is Rome’s ‘Leonardo da Vinci’ Fiumicino International Airport (FCO), with other major airports in Milan, Venice, and many other Italian cities. Commonly referred to as ‘Fiumicino Airport’, it is the hub for Italy’s national airline, Alitalia and also happens to be amongst the top ten busiest airports in Europe.
