One of Canada's prettiest cities
Vancouver is that rare destination where you could mountain ski, windsurf in the ocean and play golf all within the same 24 hours.
While the weather is generously described as unpredictable, Vancouver definitely doesn't deserve its rainy reputation. For most visitors, a Vancouver holiday is aligned with skiing and snowboarding – given its proximity to Whistler. There are also three nearby ski hills (Cypress, Grouse Mountain and Seymour). Locals are fond of the outdoors and this bicycle-friendly city boasts many trails, parks and gardens to explore including Stanley Park.
To discover Vancouver, start at the original site of Gastown which offers an eclectic mix of kitsch and urban chic. The City Centre contains most of Vancouver's landmarks such as Canada Place with its distinctive sails, plus the majority of accommodation and dining options. Feeling peckish? Due to its large Chinese and Asian population, Vancouver is renowned for its dim sum and sushi, as well as a plethora of cafes to fuel your caffeine fix and gourmet food carts and trucks for scrumptious street food.
