Greece has over 600 islands and inlets that make up the Greek Islands. Not all of these islands are uninhabited while others are home to lively cities and quiet villages. Crete is the largest of the islands followed by Euboea, Lesbos and Rhodes. Tourists regularly flock to the Greek Islands to enjoy a laid-back Mediterranean holiday full of sea and sand. Some islands are known to be busy party destinations while others give travellers a taste of calm island life.
Greek Islands cruises dock in a range of destinations including Corinth, Kalymnos, Katakolon, Kavala, Kos Town, Kythira, Lavrion, Lefkada, Lesvos, Monemvassia, Mykonos, Parga, Paros, Samos and Volos.
Sights to See
The Greek Islands are home to amazing geography, history and architecture. A good place to experience all three is in one of the villages. Typically villages are made up of round, white wash stone houses piled atop of steep mountains and are incredibly beautiful to wander through. Historic churches are also littered throughout the islands, particularly on Mykonos and Santorini Islands, and are often located on hills overlooking spectacular views.
What's for Lunch
No matter what island you are on, opt for a restaurant or café along the coastline and enjoy a fresh seafood lunch.
If you see only one thing...
Whichever beautiful island you find yourself on, be sure to face the ocean and take in the breathtakingly blue sight of the Aegean Sea and endless sky.
Island locals are mostly very warm and friendly, so always be polite and say please - 'Para-kalo', and thank you - 'Ef-hari-sto'.
Bring home a taste of Greece with a bottle of Ouzo.
